2015 Salford Business Award Winners

At the eighth annual awards, Weaste based T & K Gallagher scooped the Large Business of the Year Award. The company deliver and maintain essential water, gas and electricity cables that enable us to heat and light homes, hospitals and workplaces.

The judging panel were overwhelmed by T & K Gallagher’s innovation and growth over the past year which has seen high staff retention rates, first class customer service and a number of innovations at every level throughout the organisation. Judges noted that the company excelled in all areas of business.

The awards were split across eight categories and saw 32 businesses battle it out to be crowned winners at the TalkTalk Technology sponsored event held at the AJ Bell Stadium on Thursday 21st May.

Return on Digital, a leading digital marketing agency, were awarded Small Business of the Year. From a sole trader, set up in 2008, Return have grown to become an award-winning, market-leading agency with a team of some of the brightest digital minds in Europe. Their aim is to maximise their clients’ return on digital marketing.

My Parcel Delivery won the Online and Entrepreneur Award, Unlimited Potential received the Innovation Award and the Green Award went to Start Creative.

Manchester and Cheshire Construction walked away with the Excellence Award and Best Employer, the Community Award went to New Roots and Ladybird Private Day Nurseries won the Rising Star Award.

The prestigious event, hosted by BAFTA award-winning journalist Elaine Willcox, was attended by 370 guests who enjoyed an after-dinner speech from Paul Mason, economics editor at Channel 4 News.

University of Salford Vice-Chancellor, Professor Helen Marshall, commented: “We would like to wholeheartedly congratulate all the winners and runners up. Winning an award is a worthy recognition of their hard work and determination. We are proud to support the awards which are a fantastic celebration of the dynamic and growing business community in Salford.”

Salford City Mayor, Ian Stewart, said: “The awards are a chance to celebrate the achievements of Salford businesses and we are extremely proud of them, a big public thank you goes out to them all.

They are setting extremely high standards and create jobs, encourage growth and help in the transformation of this dynamic, thriving city.

I was particularly proud to see so many social enterprises recognised at the Salford Business Awards as Salford is now officially a Social Enterprise City.”
