Inspiring Young People Award
The Inspiring Young People Award acknowledges companies that have made a commitment to develop and train young people in their business or those who support emerging talent. This can be through apprenticeships, or by providing work experience, learning pathways and training opportunities.
Applications will be scored on:
- Clear evidence of staff development throughout the business
- How support for young people has had a positive impact on the business
- There is evidence of jobs created and opportunities for staff progression
- Examples of individuals who have made a positive and memorable difference in the company
Here’s what the judges had to say about previous winners of the awards and what contributed to their win:
2025
Runner-up: Salford Community Leisure
Salford Community Leisure continues to champion young people, turning volunteers into employees and giving them confidence, skills, and purpose through sport and community programmes. The judges praised their reach, scale, and commitment to genuine youth development.
Winner: Identity Consult
Identity Consult was commended for its long-term commitment to nurturing young talent and building a future-ready workforce. From paid work placements and mentoring to active engagement with local schools and colleges, their inclusive approach bridges the gap between education and employment.
Judges described their work as “impactful, inspiring, and authentic” — a shining example of how business can shape brighter futures.
2023
Runner Up: Graystone Action Sports
The judges said they were adaptable and inspirational, and tailored their business to young people’s individual circumstances and provided them with bespoke opportunities as well. They were particularly impressed that they have provided apprenticeships and enabled the apprentices to rise through the organisation.
Winner: The Footlights Group
The judges said that The Footlights Group was an inspiration to young people, providing them with transferable skills throughout their training which sets them up for a career. Examples of skills that are taught include teaching, customer services, acting, singing, dancing, and sound tech projects. They tailor the training to the person, whether that’s university, colleges, apprenticeships, or work to offer free scholarships as well.
